Load-shedding in areas categorized as ‘high loss’ (i.e. many illegal connections resulting in high revenue loss) is in excess of 12 hours a day. When K-Electric misapplies its load-shedding policy, residents of no-loss or low-areas which are either exempt from load-shedding or are to face only 3 hours of outages are subjected to 12 hours or more without electricity, the effects of which are more severe during heatwaves.
